Your Burning Needs...

So ladies, gents, and other amorphous intelligences out there, I've been doing this blog thing for a few years now.  And I love it.  But the more time I spend on my sewing business, doing commissions, making the same items over and over again to sell, the less time I have for straight up steampunk experimenting.

Which means I'm not always coming up with new ideas to share with you.  I have things plotted and planned, yes.  But I realized that I'm ignoring a very good source of ideas for blog posts: you guys!!

So, what do you want to see posted?  If you could imagine the perfect tutorial, what would it be about?  What do you want to know how to make?

What burning questions do you have about steampunk?  Here's your chance to ask!

Obviously, I'm not making promises to address all suggestions, since there are things I'm not an expert in (amazing, I know).  But I thought I'd solicit your ideas.

  1. I love pattern drafting, so any tutorials about that are always appreciated.

    1. I'll keep it in mind, but I'm still learning everything about drafting myself, so I'm not sure I'm confident enough to teach others!

  2. I'd be interested to hear your opinion on 'foundation pieces' of steampunk fashion. I'm looking at building up a steampunk wardrobe but am not really sure of where to start or what clothing would be considered 'essential'.

    1. That's a good idea. I'd like to hear about that for men's attire, too.

Also, if someone could help me understand why many steampunk name generators give only hyphenated names yet I rarely see a persona with a hyphenated name. How do h-names fit in?

  3. Do you think that "The Great Train Robbery" 1978 should be included in steampunkish movies lists? It's about the very first train robbery in England. The train is (of course) steam. It's early Victorian period & has great costumes. Which brings up a second question: why are most steampunk costumes based on the late Victorian period rather than the earlier "introduction of steam era?" --Boringlibrarian in Waco

    1. I haven't seen the film, so I can't currently comment. But your second question is a good one.
